Event Contract Payout

1. What is a Payout?

A payout is the fixed amount you receive per contract once the event outcome is officially determined.

1.1 Standard Payout

After the official outcome is determined, each event contract settles at either $1 or $0.

Scenario

Payout per contract

Your prediction is correct

$1.00

Your prediction is incorrect

$0.00

  • If the result is YES → YES positions settle at $1; NO positions settle at $0

  • If the result is NO → NO positions settle at $1; YES positions settle at $0

1.2 Non-Standard Payout

In rare cases, contracts may settle at a value other than $1 or $0.

This typically happens if an event:

  • Is cancelled before concluding

  • Fails to produce an official outcome

  • Has an official outcome of "None"

In such cases, the exchange may use the latest fair market data or other reasonable methods to determine the settlement price. All final settlements are determined by the exchange. For complete details, please refer to the exchange's event contract terms and settlement rules.

2. Payout Amount

2.1 Decimal Rounding

Payouts are rounded down to two decimal places.

Examples:

  • Standard Payout: 0.07 contracts → $0.07

  • Non-Standard Payout: 0.07 contracts × $0.8766 (payout per contract) = $0.061362 → $0.06

2.2 P&L vs. Payout

Payout is the final settlement amount you receive for a contract. Profit/Loss (P&L) is the difference between your total cost (excluding fees) and your final payout.

Example: You buy 1.25 YES contracts at $0.6000 with a standard payout.

  • If the result is YES:

    • Payout: 1.25 × $1 = $1.25

    • Cost: 1.25 × $0.6000 = $0.75

    • Profit: $1.25 − $0.75 = $0.50

  • If the result is NO:

    • Payout: 1.25 × $0 = $0

    • Cost: 1.25 × $0.6000 = $0.75

    • Loss: $0.75

3. Payout Timing

  • Standard payouts are typically processed within a few hours (usually within 3 hours) after the official event outcome is announced.

  • After the payout is processed, you can immediately use the funds to trade event contracts.

  • Funds are automatically transferred to your brokerage account in one business day and become available for withdrawal.

About Payout Delays

Moomoo's payout results are based on the exchange's official settlement results. Your payout may arrive later than expected in these situations:

  • Waiting on official data: Event results rely on source agencies (such as official league statistics, government releases, or other event authorities) to publish finalized results. If the source agency delays or revises its data, the exchange will delay settlement accordingly, and your payout will be postponed.

  • Contract rules and timing: Some event contracts specify a "determination time or date" in their rules that may be later than the end of the event itself. Please refer to the exchange's contract terms and settlement rules.

If your payout is delayed, we recommend the following steps:

  • Check the contract rules: On the event contract details page in the app, check the "Trading Rules" and "Full Rules" to see if there is a later determination time/date. If so, please wait patiently for that window to pass.

  • Enable notifications: Turn on email and app notifications in your moomoo app settings. You will be notified as soon as the payout is complete, and the payout amount will also appear in your fund details.

  • Contact us: If the event has ended, the determination time in the rules has passed, and your payout has still not arrived after 12 hours, please reach out via the in-app customer service. Provide the contract name, order ID, or event information so we can help investigate the issue.
