Exchange traded Index options are similar to exchange traded equity options in that all options involve risk and are not suitable for all investors.  Index options have special characteristics and risks. Index option exercises are settled with cash, not securities. In addition, because the exercise price of an index option is generally based on the closing index value, an index option that is in the money during trading hours may be out of the money when the closing value is calculated — a risk to consider whenever you place an exercise order before the closing value is known.

Although hedging strategies seek to limit or reduce investment risk, they may also limit or reduce the profit potential. There is no assurance that hedging strategies will be successful.

Trading during Extended Hours Trading Sessions carries unique risks, such as greater price volatility, lower liquidity, wider bid/ask spreads, and less market visibility, and may not be appropriate for all investors. Moomoo Financial Inc. cannot guarantee that Extended Hours orders will be executed at the best price for any given security or that any such orders, including market orders, will be executed.

Under section 1256 of the Tax Code, profit and loss on transactions in certain exchange-traded options and futures are entitled to be taxed at a rate equal to 60% long-term and 40% short-term capital gain or loss, provided that the market participants involved and the strategy employed satisfy the criteria of the Tax Code. Market participants should consult with their tax advisors to determine how the profit and loss on any particular option or futures strategy will be taxed. Tax laws and regulations change from time to time and may be subject to varying interpretations.
