Instant Buying Power (IBP) provides a quick and easy way to start investing before your ACH deposit arrives, available exclusively with a Margin Account. IBP is not available for a Cash Account.
Please note, IBP is limited to trading US stocks and participating in US IPOs. IBP will not be able to trade US microcap stocks, US options or other products.
When you use IBP, no interest will be charged on the amount. If you have a margin balance associated with your account, the IBP will be automatically used to offset the margin loan amount, up to the entire loan amount if possible.
To check your maximum IBP, click Accounts -> Transfer -> Deposit -> ACH Transfer -> Instant Deposit.
Your IBP will be $1,000 if your net account assets are equal to 0.
Your IBP can be up to $10,000 if your net account assets are above 0 and depends on your net account assets.
Instant buying power will automatically expire if your ACH deposit clears or after 7 business days.
If you have made ACH deposit and have not received IBP, one of the following issues could be at play:
Your deposit may be under manual review. Once review is done, your IBP will be credited to your account.
Your deposit may have been cancelled or even failed. In these cases, we will withdraw the IBP from the account.
Your deposit may have been returned to your bank. This may be a breach of contract and lead to reduction of max IBP or being barred from IBP completely.
You may have already used up your maximum instant buying power allotted for your account in a previous deposit.
If your ACH deposit fails due to a bank rejection or otherwise after you have received IBP, it could be considered a breach of contract, leading to penalties such as reduction of max IBP or even being barred from using IBP.
