Moomoo SG offers two ways to exchange currency: Auto currency exchange and manual exchange. Here's what you need to know to avoid accidentally exchanging twice.

Auto currency exchange: Automatic Debt Repayment
Auto currency exchange converts your SGD to USD to reduce margin interest. If you have an outstanding settlement balance on Friday, the system will exchange currency on Saturday at 9:00 AM SGT (a non-trading day) to clear your balance. This runs in the background to help you avoid interest charges.

Manual Exchange: Initiated by You
Manual exchange processes immediately when you submit it during trading days. However, please note:
If you submit a manual exchange during non-trading hours (such as Saturday between 5:00–9:15 AM SGT, or 4:00–9:15 AM during daylight saving time), the system will hold your request since banks are closed. It will be processed on the next trading day (Monday) at 7:00 AM.

Key Difference Between Auto FX and Manual Exchange
Auto FX and manual exchange are processed by separate systems that cannot detect each other's tasks. Auto FX triggers are based on settlement data, while manual exchange depends on your action and bank operating hours.

Risk of Duplicate Exchange
Since Auto Currency Exchange and manual exchange operate independently, there is a risk of duplicate exchange.
Here's how it can happen:
If you have a USD debt on Friday and Auto Currency Exchange is enabled, submitting a manual exchange on Saturday morning (5:00–9:15 AM, or 4:00–9:15 AM during daylight saving time) may result in:

Your manual exchange is held until the next trading day (Monday) at 7:00 AM

Auto FX executes on Saturday at 9:00 AM and clears your debt

Your manual exchange still processes on Monday, even though your debt is already paid
Result: You've exchanged currency twice for the same debt.

How to Avoid This
To help prevent this, we've added a warning prompt on the exchange page. If you submit a manual exchange during the non-trading hours mentioned above, you'll see a reminder. Please follow the prompt guidance to adjust your timing and avoid duplicate exchanges.
