SBI Securities Starts Disco at Buy With 98,000 Yen Price Target
Selling pressure persisted, led by semiconductor and AI-related stocks, causing a sharp intraday drop to the ¥62,000 range.
The Nikkei 225 closed sharply lower, finishing at 64,141.12 yen, down 2,694.42 yen (estimated volume: 2.76 billion shares). The decline followed a drop in semiconductor-related stocks in the U.S. market the previous day, which weighed on Tokyo-listed semiconductor and AI-related shares. Additionally, although the South Korean market was closed for a holiday, the South Korean government announced tightened regulations on leveraged, single-stock exchange-traded funds (ETFs), prompting preemptive selling of domestic AI-related stocks.
