The Share Buyback selection includes companies in the S&P 500 Buyback Index. Share buybacks increase returns for shareholders. Share buybacks reduce the number of shares held by the public, so earnings per share increase while profits remain the same, and each shareholder receives more dividends while the total amount of dividends per year remains the same. Share buybacks also increase market confidence. When a company buys back its own shares, the management has confidence in the company's future and is willing to use available cash to invest in its own stock. This behavior is often viewed as a positive signal that can boost market confidence and investment in the company, which can drive up the share price.
