On November 26th, emerging Optics (00125.HK) announced that for the six months ended September 30, 2021, the company had revenue of HK $469 million, an increase of 61.17% over the same period last year; profits attributable to owners of the company were HK $6.06 million, compared with a loss of HK $12.066 million in the same period last year; earnings per share were HK2.31 cents, with an interim special dividend of HK1.5 cents per share and no interim dividend was paid.
The significant increase in turnover and profitability of the Group is mainly due to the fact that the global economy was adversely affected by the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, which challenged the eyewear industry in the last financial period. However since the beginning of 2021 the market demand for glasses products has rebounded significantly due to the weakening impact of the epidemic. During the period under review, the increase in business volume brought about greater economies of scale. In addition, the Group remained committed to streamlining operations, reducing costs and improving overall efficiency, which also made a positive contribution to the improvement of profitability during the period.
