Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA said Wednesday that it has signed letters of intent for the lease of up to 13 Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft.

It said the lessors are experienced and have prior relationships with Norwegian Air.

The aircraft are scheduled to begin delivery in the fourth quarter of 2021 through the first quarter 2022, it said.

The lease terms are between five to eight years, depending on aircraft age, and include "power-by-the-hour" arrangements for both the 2021/22 and 2022/23 winter seasons.

Norwegian also has the right, under some of the leases, to substitute the 737-800 NG aircraft for new technology narrow-body aircraft from either Boeing or Airbus, it added.
