TeslaThe company paid more than $1 million in damages to Melvin Berry, a former black employee, after the company was convicted of failing to stop the director of a North Carolina factory from using racist terms against him.

It was a rare victory for black employees over the years in their complaints against Tesla. The black employees claimed that people on Tesla's production line often used racist terms against them, but Tesla turned a blind eye to this and failed to clean up graffiti and other hate symbols with Nazi symbols in public areas in time.

Bailey joined Tesla as a material manager in 2015 and resigned less than 18 months later. Although arbitration proceedings tend to keep disputes between employees and companies secret, court documents reveal that Pele's allegations are more credible than Tesla's denials. Bailey said he was not only insulted by his supervisor, but also forced to work longer hours and push heavier trucks.

"I want the whole world to know that the arbitrator found Tesla treated his employees like this," Bailey said after winning the case. " He said he will now take a break to pay attention to his mental health because he has not "come out of the pain".

Tesla has strongly denied the allegations in the Bailey case and other similar cases and said in a statement in 2017 that the company "absolutely opposes any form of discrimination, harassment or any form of unfair treatment".
