Possible Bearish Signals With Keysight Technologies Insiders Disposing Stock

Simply Wall St ·  May 21 14:27

The fact that multiple Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:KEYS) insiders offloaded a considerable amount of shares over the past year could have raised some eyebrows amongst investors. When evaluating insider transactions, knowing whether insiders are buying versus if they selling is usually more beneficial, as the latter can be open to many interpretations. However, when multiple insiders sell stock over a specific duration, shareholders should take notice as that could possibly be a red flag.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Keysight Technologies

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Senior VP and President of Order Fulfillment & Digital Operations, Soon Gooi, sold US$4.7m worth of shares at a price of US$162 per share. So what is clear is that an insider saw fit to sell at around the current price of US$160. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. In this case, the big sale took place at around the current price, so it's not too bad (but it's still not a positive).

Keysight Technologies insiders didn't buy any shares over the last year. You can see a visual depiction of insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last 12 months, below. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Insider Ownership Of Keysight Technologies

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. It's great to see that Keysight Technologies insiders own 0.5% of the company, worth about US$141m. Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.

What Might The Insider Transactions At Keysight Technologies Tell Us?

There haven't been any insider transactions in the last three months -- that doesn't mean much.
