Have Insiders Sold Golden Matrix Group Shares Recently?

Simply Wall St ·  May 10 06:42

Anyone interested in Golden Matrix Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:GMGI) should probably be aware that the COO & Director, Weiting Feng, recently divested US$200k worth of shares in the company, at an average price of US$4.30 each. On the bright side, that sale was only 1.6% of their holding, so we doubt it's very meaningful, on its own.

Golden Matrix Group Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Notably, that recent sale by Weiting Feng is the biggest insider sale of Golden Matrix Group shares that we've seen in the last year. So it's clear an insider wanted to take some cash off the table, even below the current price of US$4.87. As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can't be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it's only a weak sign. We note that the biggest single sale was only 1.6%of Weiting Feng's holding.

Weiting Feng sold a total of 62.18k shares over the year at an average price of US$4.22. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Insider Ownership Of Golden Matrix Group

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Golden Matrix Group insiders own 79% of the company, currently worth about US$465m based on the recent share price. This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.
