The US stock market fell. The Dow average closed at 37,815.92 dollars, down 570.17 dollars, and the NASDAQ fell 325.26 points at 15,657.82.

Since the employment cost index for the fiscal year ending January to 3 grew higher than expected, it was sold due to a retreat in expectations of interest rate cuts, and then fell after getting close. Wage inflation is deep-seated, and the market price continued to fall due to concerns that high inflation would be longer than expected, and the rise in long-term interest rates was disgusted. Since the April Chicago Purchasing Department Association Business Climate Index and Consumer Confidence Index, which were announced later, fell far below expectations, concerns about stagflation were also rekindled, leading to further sales pressure. Towards the end of the game, sales that were wary of the hawkish Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) also intensified, the decline widened, and ended. By sector, while households and individuals rose slightly, automobiles and auto parts declined.

Sales of the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly (LLY) did not reach expectations in the first quarter financial results, but sales of the obesity treatment drug “Zepbound” greatly exceeded expectations, and sales and profit forecasts for 24 were revised upward. Semiconductor manufacturer NXP Semiconductors (NXPI) rose as adjusted earnings per share and outlook for the second quarter exceeded expectations in the first quarter financial results. The total payment amount for online payments PayPal Holdings (PYPL) in the first quarter was strong and rose.

McDonald's (MCD), which operates a fast food chain, was affected by boycotts over the war in the Middle East and a decline in sales among low-income people, and existing store sales fell below expectations in the first quarter. Cannabis/hemp product manufacturer Tilley Brands (TLRY) rose when it was reported that the Biden administration was considering reclassification to relax federal regulations surrounding cannabis. Beverage manufacturer Coca-Cola (KO) declined due to disgust with mixed quarterly financial results. Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla (TSLA) declined due to further employment reduction plans being warned.

Online retailer Amazon (AMZN) announced quarterly results after the transaction ended. Earnings and sales per share exceeded expectations, and they were bought in overtime trading.
