Malaysian Shares End in Red After Volatile Trading Session; Amway (Malaysia)'s Shares Drop Over 7%

Malaysian shares ended in losses midweek in a volatile trading session. The investor sentiment was subdued after sharp overnight selling on Wall Street.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, the main gauge of Malaysian stocks, shed 10.98 points to end 0.71% lower at 1,537.01. The day ranged between 1,537.01 and 1,548.42.

In economic news, The World Bank kept its 2024 economic growth outlook for Malaysia at 4.3% in its April 2024 East Asia and Pacific Economic Update. The international financial institution's projection was based on hopes of a recovery in global growth and the easing of stringent financial conditions.

In corporate news, shares of the shares of the direct marketing company Amway (Malaysia) (KLSE: AMWAY) slumped over 7% today.

Meanwhile, shares of both the metal stamping company Ge-Shen (KLSE:GESHEN) and the concrete block and brickmaker Chin Hin Group (KLSE:CHINHIN) dropped over 3% on Wednesday's close.
