According to the Zhitong Finance App, Tomson Group (00258) announced results for the year ended December 31, 2023. The group obtained total operating income of HK$567 million, an increase of 6.43%; profit attributable to the company's equity holders was HK$42.684 million, an increase of 148.63% year on year; profit per share was 2.12 HK cents.
According to the announcement, the sharp increase in comprehensive profit after tax was mainly due to improvements in the Group's property development and sales business performance and the performance of the Group's joint ventures.
The property development and sales categories generated increased revenue during the year under review. However, at the end of the year, the Group obtained an unrealized loss of HK$109 million (2022: HK$75.204 million) due to changes in fair value after making a market valuation of investment properties located in Shanghai, China in accordance with applicable accounting standards. As a result, the classified profit of the property development and investment business increased only slightly to HK$99.085 million in the year under review (2022: HK$98.828 million).
