Don't Ignore The Insider Selling In TXO Partners

Simply Wall St ·  Mar 14 06:30

We note that the TXO Partners, L.P. (NYSE:TXO) President of Business Operations, Brent Clum, recently sold US$80k worth of stock for US$18.54 per share. However we note that the sale only shrunk their holding by 1.5%.

TXO Partners Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The CEO & Chairman of the Board of TXO Energy GP Bob Simpson made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$4.9m worth of shares at a price of US$17.60 each. That implies that an insider found the current price of US$17.92 per share to be enticing. That means they have been optimistic about the company in the past, though they may have changed their mind. While we always like to see insider buying, it's less meaningful if the purchases were made at much lower prices, as the opportunity they saw may have passed. Happily, the TXO Partners insiders decided to buy shares at close to current prices.

Over the last year, we can see that insiders have bought 475.65k shares worth US$8.4m. On the other hand they divested 4.34k shares, for US$80k. In total, TXO Partners insiders bought more than they sold over the last year. You can see a visual depiction of insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last 12 months, below. Insider Ownership

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. It's great to see that TXO Partners insiders own 28% of the company, worth about US$160m. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
