Insider Sellers Might Regret Selling Integral Ad Science Holding Shares at a Lower Price Than Current Market Value

Simply Wall St ·  Feb 29 06:24

Despite the fact that Integral Ad Science Holding Corp.'s (NASDAQ:IAS) value has dropped 37% in the last week insiders who sold US$2.7m worth of stock in the past 12 months have had less success. Insiders would probably have been better off holding on to their shares given that the average selling price of US$16.03 is still lower than the current share price.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Integral Ad Science Holding

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the CEO & Director, Lisa Utzschneider, for US$1.1m worth of shares, at about US$17.67 per share. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. The silver lining is that this sell-down took place above the latest price (US$10.01). So it is hard to draw any strong conclusion from it.

Insider Ownership

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term.
