Winner Fashion Founder Jin Ming: Getting a good card, growth and success are given by the times

Gelonghui Finance ·  Feb 6 02:19

There are three circles in life, do what you like and what you are good at

Recently, Mr. Jin Ming, founder, CEO and chairman of the board of directors of Winner Fashion, was a guest interview with Gelonghui's high-end “Dr. Glenn Living Room”.

As the actual controller and helmsman of a listed company with a market capitalization of 10 billion dollars, Jin Ming pointed out in an interview that looking back on his achievements so far, he would rate himself 75 points. Because the company set a goal to raise the salary level to 90 points, it is still 75 points ten years after listing.

This seems like a failure, but now I'm confident that I'm about to reach my goal, and maybe even surpass the 90th percentile. This is where the current confidence and determination lie.

In fact, the team's overall return amount, salary level, etc. are used as one of the core criteria for evaluating one's own life.

There are three circles in life

In the interview, Jin Ming mentioned that she had met a teacher. The teacher said that there are three circles in life: one is good at it, one is liked, and the other is able to earn a decent life. The most fulfilling part of a teacher's life was to achieve the intersection of the three circles, and Jin Ming himself was satisfied with only two. What he was good at was able to earn a decent income.

However, Jin Ming said that the clothing industry is not what he likes. The main driving force behind his work over the years is a sense of responsibility, and the sense of responsibility is innate.

Prior to joining the family business, several of Jin Ming's bosses rated him as a very responsible employee. Even when dealing with bosses, they always put the interests of the company first. After leaving his job, the bosses missed him because he always dared to speak bluntly, and the bosses felt that they lacked someone who told the truth.

In the family business, I have always treated my mother with an attitude towards my superiors and often argued with her. This also stems from a sense of responsibility.

As for now, Jin Ming said he was very happy and finally found the intersection of the third circle. The industry I'm working in now is something I love; this is the result of my heart's drive.

From insolvent to billions in assets

Jin Ming graduated from the University of Science and Technology of China and has always worked in science and technology. Because of their parents' mentality, they feel they need to find a successor when they are older.

In 1998, the father and younger brother found Jin Ming and wanted him to come back and help the family. Moreover, at that time, to make expensive items, it was necessary to enter department stores, and since department store counters were just starting out, the general manager was only around 30 years old. The parents wanted Jin Ming to represent the company and deal with the market on behalf of the family. As a result, in 1999, Jin Ming returned to the family business and took up the position of marketing manager.

Throughout her life, Jin Ming admits that her mother was her own noble person. Maybe the family didn't accumulate much capital back then, but she did enter the right track. When I started my new brand, my mother didn't interfere from beginning to end. She took away the elite generals at the time, and actually got a good card.

In the interview, Winner Fashion founder Jin Ming talked about her mother's hardships in starting a business along the way.

When Jin Ming went to college in 1987, her mother was still working at her hometown office in Zhejiang, earning an average monthly salary of 100 yuan. The tuition fee his mother gave him for the first year was 50 yuan a month.

My mother majored in precision machining, and later got into the garment industry by mistake.

At the time, because of US sanctions, my mother decided to follow two major Zhejiang companies to set up their offices in Shenzhen and wanted to rely on Hong Kong as a trading port.

In 1989, my mother came to Shenzhen for the first time. As a result, she broke her leg in a guest house due to hard work and lack of sleep, and went back to her hometown.

In 1992, my mother went back to Shenzhen to build a factory. At the time, the factory was state-owned. She was scammed by a Hong Kong person during the operation. The payment went to Hong Kong, and no one was there.

My mother was 48 years old that year. She felt that her life had failed, and she felt ashamed and ashamed. The mother proposed to the government leader that the individual bears the debt of a state-owned enterprise is equivalent to equity reform, and the property rights of the Shenzhen branch factory belong to the mother. Only in this way can it be considered a trip to the sea in the true sense of the word.

Since 1995, the Chinese economy has entered a channel of rapid development. Relying on her keen sense of business, her mother began taking over a 3*3 square meter stall and opening her first specialty store at the “Women's World” department store in Shenzhen.

After a period of operation, it was discovered that there was a high demand for professional women's clothing. At the time, the number of Hong Kong brands was small, and Shenzhen was also dominated by the northerners; they needed large sizes.

At that time, I decided to make women's clothing and founded the NAERSI (NAERSI) women's clothing brand, focusing on plus size professional women's clothing. This was a turning point for the family, catching up with the dividends of reform.

Taking advantage of the times to accelerate take-off

When it comes to second life's big choice, I flew solo in 2007 and started my own women's clothing brand Coletil.

Jin Ming mentioned that he is a very responsible person and has a strong learning ability. He has learned a lot in the process of running the market. At the same time, he also has his own views on business management by summarizing and summarizing.

But these views conflict with the mother. Because of her low emotional intelligence, Jin Ming often publicly confronted her mother and her then-senior executives at internal company meetings. Despite private exhortations from executives to avoid this kind of behavior, he still believes that he is doing this in the interests of the company.

Referring to the dispute with her mother, Jin Ming said that it covered strategy, tactics, and combat, as well as the management system, comprehensiveness, and the individual.

My younger brother then suggested not to keep fighting with my mother; it's better to start a separate brand and do it according to my own views. I got Koradior (Coletil) in 2007 because of my younger brother's words.

Having talked about this, Dr. Glon has a deep feeling: Does this mean that entrepreneurs all have such an almost paranoid stubbornness that makes it possible for these entrepreneurs to come out one by one?

Mr. Jin Ming expressed his agreement with this statement. This quote comes from Grove; only paranoid people can succeed. However, Mr. Jin Ming admits that he is not paranoid. Entering the clothing industry is not driven by feelings; it is only driven by a sense of responsibility.

From Single Fly in 2007 to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange listing in 2014, the family company acquired other brands in 2019, and achieved an overall listing. At least from the face of it, the entire entrepreneurial process seemed to have been smooth and uneventful.

However, looking at the overall review, Jin Ming pointed out that two years ago it may have been more due to his own efforts, but now he realizes that past success was a dividend of the times and brought about by the times. Despite making mistakes along the way, compared to its peers, the success of Winner Fashion was bestowed by the times.
