Silicon Industry Branch: The tight balance between supply and demand for monocrystalline silicon is operating weakly in the market

On January 18, the Silicon Industry Branch released the monocrystalline silicon weekly review, which indicated that the market operated weakly this week, and the M10 size dropped slightly.

The Zhitong Finance App learned that on January 18, the Silicon Industry Branch released a monocrystalline silicon weekly review indicating that the market was running weak this week, and the M10 size dropped slightly. The average transaction price of M10 monocrystalline silicon wafers (182 mm/150 μm) fell to 1.99 yuan/sheet, a decrease of 0.5% from week to month; the average transaction price of N-type monocrystalline silicon wafers (182 mm/130 μm) fell to 2.00 yuan/sheet, a decrease of 2.91% from week to week; the average transaction price of G12 monocrystalline silicon wafers (210mm/150 μm) remained flat.

On the supply side, the N-type production capacity switching speed exceeded expectations. The P-type M10 gradually became customized, and N/P was trending at the same price. The starting situation of various enterprises remained basically unchanged this week. With the exception of the three companies that have made significant adjustments, the rest of the enterprises are basically close to full production, and specialized enterprises are highly motivated to produce. Based on the above situation, silicon wafer production in January may be raised again to around 48-50GW, an increase of about 18% over the previous month. The two increases in silicon wafer production this month are expected to be much lower than planned due to actual production cuts. Furthermore, the N-type currently accounts for nearly 60%-80% of production capacity, and the speed of technology updates and iterations far exceeds expectations.

On the demand side, battery companies have basically stabilized production, and module prices have dropped again. On the battery side, the transaction price of P-type M10 monocrystalline PERC batteries stabilized to 0.375 yuan/W, the transaction price of N-type Topcon batteries rose to 0.46 yuan/W, and the N/P price difference increased slightly to 0.085 yuan/W. In January, battery production was about 50 GW, corresponding to the basic balance between supply and demand on the silicon wafer side. On the module side, the average transaction price of 182mm single-crystal single-sided PERC modules dropped to 0.93 yuan/w, down 5.1% from month to month. Recently, the main reason for the phased decline in components was the low season for ground power plant installation in the first quarter, and the pressure on the sales process increased due to high component inventories.

This week, the two first-tier companies maintained operating rates of 65% and 95%, respectively. The operating rate of integrated enterprises remained between 75% and 80%, respectively, and the operating rate of the rest of the enterprises remained between 40% and 100%, respectively. Judging from the relationship between supply and demand, apart from a small number of companies receiving orders for P-type M10, the price of N-type silicon wafers may fluctuate greatly, and the price of N-type silicon wafers will gradually stabilize to a reasonable profit level.
