This Insider Has Just Sold Shares In MoneyLion

Simply Wall St ·  Nov 24, 2023 05:18

We wouldn't blame MoneyLion Inc. (NYSE:ML) shareholders if they were a little worried about the fact that Diwakar Choubey, the Co-Founder recently netted about US$575k selling shares at an average price of US$33.76. However, that sale only accounted for 2.7% of their holding, so arguably it doesn't say much about their conviction.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At MoneyLion

Notably, that recent sale by Diwakar Choubey is the biggest insider sale of MoneyLion shares that we've seen in the last year. That means that even when the share price was slightly below the current price of US$34.30, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can't be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it's only a weak sign. This single sale was just 2.7% of Diwakar Choubey's stake.

In the last twelve months insiders purchased 3.46k shares for US$57k. But they sold 50.55k shares for US$1.5m. Over the last year we saw more insider selling of MoneyLion shares, than buying.
