09:40 PM EDT, 06/19/2022 (MT Newswires) -- Automobile exports from China soared 62.3% year over year in May to 245,000 units, Xinhua News Agency reported Saturday, citing data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
On a month-over-month basis, auto exports jumped 73%, the report said.
About 196,000 passenger cars were shipped overseas, up 69.7%, while commercial vehicle exports climbed 38.2% to about 49,000 units, the report said.
From January to May, China's auto exports surged 44.7% year over year to 969,000 units, Xinhua added.
China's biggest automakers include $DONGFENG GROUP(00489.HK)$, $SAIC Motor Corporation(600104.SH)$, $Chongqing Changan Automobile(000625.SZ)$.
The domestic new-energy vehicle market is dominated by $BYD COMPANY(01211.HK)$, Tesla China, GAC Aion, and SAIC-GM-Wuling, a joint venture among SAIC, General Motors and $WULING MOTORS(00305.HK)$.
