Total global household wealth fell last year for the first time since the 2008 financial crisis. Inflation and the appreciation of the dollar reduced assets by about 11.3 trillion US dollars. According to the annual global wealth report released by Credit Suisse on Tuesday, total global private net wealth fell 2.4% to 454.4 trillion US dollars. North American and European households lost the most, with a combined loss of $10.9 trillion. Not all regions have had their wealth impacted. The report said that despite being affected by sanctions, Russia's wealth increased dramatically last year, adding 56 millionaires. According to the report, Latin America's wealth grew by $2.4 trillion, thanks to the average appreciation of Latin American currencies against the US dollar by 6%.
