After more than a decade of absence, Cristiano Ronaldo (Cristiano Ronaldo for Chinese fans referred to as "Ronaldo") returned to Manchester United, which he called "home", which not only made fans cheer, but also investors were enthusiastic, driving up Manchester United's share price.

Manchester United shares rose 11% at one point in New York. The club had previously confirmed that a Cristiano Ronaldo transfer agreement had been reached with Italy's Juventus, subject to agreement on personal terms, visas and medical issues. Shares of Juventus clubs rose 1.2 per cent on Friday.

In a video posted on social media, Cristiano Ronaldo reviewed his days at Juventus and said: "in the end, we can all look back on the past and find that we have made great achievements, although we did not have everything we wanted, but we wrote a wonderful chapter together." He returned to Old Trafford, where he left for Real Madrid about 12 years ago.

Manchester United welcomed the return of Cristiano Ronaldo on social media and said in a statement that "everyone at the club is looking forward to welcoming Ronaldo back to Manchester."

The day before, it was reported that Manchester United's city rivals Manchester City were expected to sign Cristiano Ronaldo. The star striker has reportedly accepted a two-year contract with Manchester United of 15 million euros and a float of 8 million euros.

Cristiano Ronaldo has won more than 30 major awards in his career, including five Golden Globes, the highest individual honor for footballers. The Portuguese star scored 118 goals in 292 games during his tenure at Manchester United.
