$Groupon (GRPN.US)$ soared more than 30% Friday after the long-struggling marketing platform beat analyst estimates for Q1 earnings and revenues.
GRPN rose as much as 32.3% to a $13.90 intraday high after the firm reported $0.06 in adjusted earnings per share, beating analysts' $0.05 consensus estimate by 20%.
Groupon also rang up $123.1 million in Q1 sales, surpassing analysts' $117.5 million consensus projection by 4.8%.
Still, the stock – initially a Wall Street darling when it went public in late 2011 -- remains far removed from its glory days.
The company went public some 12-1/2 years ago at $400 a share after taking the effect of a 2020 1-20 reverse stock split into account.
GRPN then peaked at a split-adjusted $516.80 intraday high in February 2012 before beginning a 10+ year decline.
Even after taking Friday’s rally into account, the stock has fallen more than 97% since its 2012 peak.
