NIO - SW (09866.HK) third quarter revenue of 19.07 billion yuan increased 46.6% year on year

NIO SW (09866.HK) disclosed unaudited financial results for the third quarter of 2023. In the third quarter of 2023, automobile sales were RMB 17,4089 billion, up 45.9% year on year and 142.3% month on month; total revenue was RMB 19.066 billion, up 46.6% year on year and 117.4% month on month; gross profit was RMB 1,5233 million, down 12.2% year on year and up 1,650.9% month on month. The net loss was RMB 4,556.7 billion, down 24.8% from your ratio. As of September 30, 2023, cash and cash equivalents, restricted cash, short-term investments and long-term time deposits amounted to RMB 45.2 billion.

The number of vehicles delivered in the third quarter of 2023 reached 55,432, including 37,585 high-end smart electric SUVs and 17,847 high-end smart electric sedans, an increase of 75.4% over the third quarter of 2022 and 135.7% over the second quarter of 2023.

“NIO delivered 55,432 vehicles in the third quarter of 2023, a steady increase of 75.4% year-on-year, setting a record high for quarterly deliveries. According to retail data from the China Automobile Center, in the third quarter of 2023, it ranked first in China's pure electric vehicle market of over 300,000, with a market share of 45%,” said Li Bin, founder, chairman and CEO of NIO.

“We recently completed a comprehensive plan for the company's two-year operating plan to determine key goals, priorities, and action plans. At the same time, we identified opportunities for organizational optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency. We will continue to focus on advancing core technology, developing key products, and enhancing sales and service capabilities. We are confident of NIO's long-term competitiveness in the smart electric vehicle market”, added Mr. Li.

“Thanks to the increase in average sales prices, the continued reduction in vehicle costs and scale effects, vehicle gross margin increased to 11% in the third quarter of 2023,” added Feng Wei, chief financial officer of NIO. In September and October 2023, NIO completed the issuance of convertible senior bonds with a total principal amount of US$1.15 billion, further strengthening our balance sheet and providing impetus in our intense competition.”

For the fourth quarter of 2023, the company expects vehicle deliveries to be between 47,000 and 49,000 vehicles, an increase of about 17.3% to 22.3% over the same quarter of 2022. Total revenue ranged from RMB16.079 billion to RMB16.701 billion, an increase of about 0.1% to 4.0% over the same quarter of 2022.
