Insider Sellers Might Regret Selling Pulmonx Shares at a Lower Price Than Current Market Value

Simply Wall St ·  Apr 5 06:44

Pulmonx Corporation's (NASDAQ:LUNG) value has fallen 15% in the last week, but insiders who sold US$661k worth of stock over the last year have had less success. Given that the average selling price of US$10.25 is still lower than the current share price, insiders would probably have been better off keeping their shares.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Pulmonx Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the Director, Glendon French, for US$75k worth of shares, at about US$11.49 per share. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. The good news is that this large sale was at well above current price of US$7.86. So it may not tell us anything about how insiders feel about the current share price.

Pulmonx insiders didn't buy any shares over the last year. You can see a visual depiction of insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last 12 months, below. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Insider Ownership Of Pulmonx

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Insiders own 4.1% of Pulmonx shares, worth about US$12m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
