Last week, $S&P 500 Index(.SPX.US)$ saw an increase of 1.85%, while the $Nasdaq(NDAQ.US)$ rose by 1.14%.
NVIDIA Remains a Favorite Among TOP 3 Investors
$NVIDIA(NVDA.US)$ is the favorite stock, with all three investors allocating significant positions to purchase NVIDIA shares. Last week, NVIDIA's stock price increased by 1.23%, which is close to the performance of the S&P 500 Index. The previously released non-farm payroll data for April showed signs of cooling, which eased the market's expectations for high interest rates. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note fell to around 4.5%, providing upward momentum for the stock prices of technology companies like NVIDIA.
ZIM Integrated Shipping Services is the Most Profitable Stock
Observations of the portfolios of the top three investors reveal that $ZIM Integrated Shipping(ZIM.US)$ earned them the highest returns. Last week, the company's stock price soared by more than 36%, which was quite astonishing.
ZIM engages in the provision of shipping and logistics services, offering solutions such as the transportation of out-of-gauge cargo, refrigerated cargo, and dangerous materials. It is currently the world's tenth-largest container shipping company. Geographically, the majority of the company's revenue comes from the Pacific region.
On one hand, due to the upcoming traditional peak season for maritime shipping and the current limited market idle capacity, expectations for shipping demand are increasing. On the other hand, with the Red Sea crisis showing no signs of resolution, leading to a shortage of capacity, major shipping companies, including Maersk, are choosing to avoid the Suez Canal route and take the longer Cape of Good Hope route to avoid attacks on Red Sea vessels by Houthi armed forces from Yemen.
The disruption in the supply chain and the consequent increase in transportation costs due to the detour are allowing global shipping companies to benefit from higher freight rates, which in turn is driving their stock prices up.
However, the risk is that once the Red Sea crisis eases or international alternatives for the supply chain are managed, it will be challenging to see ZIM's stock price maintain such rapid growth momentum.
Don't you know how to find an opportunity?
With the US stock earnings season concluded, and in light of fully anticipated earnings and slightly high valuations, the risk of earnings periods has been largely eliminated for US tech giants, aside from NVIDIA.
This week, the US will release April PPI and CPI data, and several Federal Reserve officials, including Loretta Mester and Federal Reserve Governor Jefferson, will deliver speeches.
The importance of CPI and PPI data is unquestionable, especially given the rise in energy prices (in core inflation, energy price changes have a significant impact on the weighted transportation and travel services sector).Data released last Friday indicated that the US consumer confidence experienced an unexpected sharp decline, and inflation expectations for the coming year also unexpectedly rebounded. This has continued to trigger market concerns. If the CPI data shows a pleasing decline, it is expected to support the rebound in the stock markets seen so far this month. However, should the CPI further exceed expectations, it is bound to intensify the industry's anxiety over the risk of secondary inflation or even stagflation.
