US prosecutors are investigating the presence or absence of fraudulent acts by Tesla - Reuters

The US Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating whether Tesla misled investors and consumers about the autonomous driving function of the company's electric vehicles (EVs). Reuters reported citing multiple stakeholders familiar with the situation.
Tesla's “autopilot” and “fully autonomous driving (FSD)” systems are not completely autonomous driving, and the Department of Justice is investigating explanations and statements suggesting autonomous driving by the company and Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk (CEO).
According to what the person concerned told Reuters, the authorities are investigating whether Tesla's actions fall under securities fraud etc. due to deceiving investors. It is said that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is also investigating explanations about driver assistance systems carried out by Tesla to investors.
Tesla did not respond to Reuters' request for comment. The SEC declined to comment.

  • exera : The image is downundefined

  • pinkotu : How many years has it been since they started talking about autonomous driving at places where it's a fraud level if it's not realized with this much emphasis
I wonder what would happen to stock prices if manufacturers other than Tesla were able to drive autonomously. You have to work hard in the space business too!

  • ピンハネOP pinkotu: HelloundefinedI think the space business is more attractive. Honda is collaborating with GM and Cruise (Cruise) to announce plans to develop autonomous driving taxis in Japanundefined

How does autonomous driving provide compensation in the event of a personal injury accident?

  • ピンハネOP pinkotu: According to the Automobile Damage Compensation Guarantee Act, as a general rule, the owner is responsible for accidents caused by autonomous vehicles as civil liability. However, there are no flaws in security measures, and it is appropriate to respond to accidents caused by being hacked with government security services.
Also, with regard to criminal liability, drivers will pursue responsibility for accidents caused by commercially available level 2 autonomous driving. If vehicle trouble occurs, the manufacturer will also be held responsible as a manufacturer.
The levels of autonomous driving are classified into level 0, level 1, level 2, level 3, level 4, and level 5. Level 1 and 2 are “driver assistance vehicles,” and the driver basically performs driving operations, and the system supports driving in part. Therefore, the driver is responsible for the accident. At level 3, driving operations shift from driver-centered to system-centered operations, but the driver handles operations outside of the design. Level 4 is unconditional autonomous driving in a limited area, and level 5 is completely autonomous driving, but it has not been put into practical use, and no legislation has been enacted.
