Oklo Honored on TIME's Best Inventions List for 2023
SANTA CLARA, Calif.,– Oklo Inc., an advanced fission power technology and nuclear fuel recycling company, is honored to announce its selection to TIME's Best Inventions of 2023 list, in the “Reuse and Recycle” category. This recognition highlights the fuel recycling capabilities that Oklo is developing to recycle used nuclear fuel, part of what is referred to as nuclear waste, into fuel to create clean energy.
The fuel recycling capabilities that Oklo is developing have the potential to turn what is now an expensive liability into an asset to transform clean energy availability and costs. Existing nuclear fuel waste in the United States, which, if recycled for use as fuel in an advanced fission power plant, would contain enough energy to power the entire United States for over 100 years. Corollary to the recycling of nuclear fuel waste is the potential to significantly lower the cost of reliable and clean power it would produce.

In order to identify the list of best inventions, TIME first solicits nominations from its editors and correspondents around the world, paying special attention to growing fields—such as AI, green energy, and sustainability.
