Malaysia said on Tuesday it will not recognise unilateral sanctions in response to a proposed US law to level sanctions against foreign supporters of Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups.
The Hamas International Financing Prevention Act, aimed at cutting off international financing to the groups, was passed by the US House of Representatives last week and is awaiting voting by the Senate.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said his government was closely monitoring developments on the bill’s passage, adding that it could affect Malaysia only if it is proven to provide material support to Hamas or the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
“Any sanctions against Malaysia can also affect the assessment of the US government and US companies towards Malaysia, as well as affect US companies’ investment opportunities in Malaysia,” Anwar said in a written reply to parliament on Tuesday, in which he emphasised “the legitimate right and struggle of the Palestinian people”.

Zerocool888 : If you do a research, actually US is heading backwards in terms of economy. They are lacking in so many areas. Their domestic are actually suffering due to crime and jobless rates (they keep posting their jobless rate is low but it’s not!). Wall Street is slowly but surely sinking day by day. DJI and NASDAQ has been stagnant even when COVID is long gone.

They use war to threaten to the world. Normal people are suffering. US Government have absolutely nothing to lose as their people are not fighting the war. They are just supplying weapons to them. Without selling these weapons, their deficit would be such a bad shape that their grandfather can’t even recognise them. The current US Government and Biden are the biggest joke since US became independant.

If PM Anwar was afraid of US, he and his party won’t even dare to open their mouth but that said, some Malaysians thinks they have the weakest PM so far. Hahahaha…….so hopefully he will look for support from their neighbouring countries for additional support.
