  • zeng David : Losses are already something to be expected

  • ZnWC : %change in share price in post market -5%

There are 4 risks that NIO are exposed to:

    1) The Chinese EV market is still in its early stages of development. There is a risk that the market could slow down or even decline.
Economic data has shown that China economy is slowing down. NIO's EV delivery is predominantly in China and export to Europe is still small. No EV is exported to US despite several plan to do so.

    2) Nio is facing increasing competition from other EV companies, such as Tesla and Xpeng. There is also competition from traditional automakers, such as Volkswagen and General Motors, now investing heavily in EVs and hybrids.

Although NIO reported an increase of in sales, there was a decline in other key financial metrics, like gross margin and net income. The gross margin fell to 10.4% for the whole year of 2022 compared to 18.9% for the previous year, and the net loss widened by 259.4% from the previous year to 14.43 billion.

    3) Shares have been diluted by 7.6% in the last year. This means that investors have lost value in their holdings as the company looked for further investment. This is a major red flag for me. If the company looks to maintain its steep growth by further diluting shares, then the share price is likely to decline. Share dilution is the reduction of the percentage of equity in a company through issuing additional stocks that'll be put up for sale.

    4) Discounted cash flow (DCF) calculation suggests the shares may be 51% overvalued at present. Discounted cash flow analysis helps to determine the value of an investment based on its future cash flows justified by its earnings outlook.

Having said the above, Nio has a very strong balance sheet, with over $6.7 billion in cash on hand. The company is also backed, and heavily owned by the government of Abu Dhabi.
But the injection of fund is a double edged sword that will also dilute the share at the expense of retail investors.

  • MonkeyGee ZnWC: All these risk still doesn't amount to the one Telsa has with China.  Just waiting for the 4 words "get out of China".  That would end Telsa overnight.  NIO and Xpeng has the China government support os they are safe and will continue to grow.

  • ZnWC : Someone just post baseless and irrelevant comment. This posting is about NIO not Tesla.

  • MonkeyGee ZnWC: Don't know why you constantly reply to your own comments.  I know most of your comments are baseless.  you even debate with yourself online.  I know you have alot of internal conflicts and it hard to deal with all that FUD.  don't be so hard on yourself.

  • ZnWC : Someone is making irrelevant comment to this posting again.

  • SgDavidC : The negative earnings of NIO in Q2 was already expected. I reckon investors see a bright future for the company due to their new car model and battery charging capabilities which are keys for EV.

  • MonkeyGee ZnWC: are you high on TSLA?  Do you truely think China is going to open its door for a foreign auto company to destroy it domestic industry?  you have alot to learn.  I feel sorry for all your followers.  If any followers want true value come follow me!

  • MonkeyGee ZnWC: funny it seems like their are alot of irrelevant comments directed to you by alot of people.  I wonder why!
