$VinFast Auto(VFS.US)$ National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Launches Probe Into Deadly Crash Involving VinFast VF 8
MT Newswires· 5 mins ago
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating the April crash of a VinFast's (VFS) VF 8 electric vehicle in California that resulted with the death of four people, multiple media outlets reported late Monday, citing the regulator.
A spokesperson for the regulator told TechCrunch that its special crash investigations division will "document the crash circumstances and the ensuing fire."
The crash happened in Pleasanton, California on April 24 when allegedly the vehicle lost control and crashed into an oak tree and caught fire.
The Pleasanton Police Department is conducting a separate investigation of its own, TechCrunch reported.

  • Darth Sidious : Seems like the Driver doesn’t know how to Properly Drive…

  • TrytosaveabitOP Darth Sidious: Well that may turn out to be the case here! Shame someone died! But yeah let’s hope they find nothing with the car/battery! GL

  • SUNSHINE16 : It’s Made in VN so it’s 100% cheap and it’s junk and most parts from China. I’ve test drove the VF8, VF9, and VFe34. The VF3 is $10,000 so that’s clearly cheap crap and it’s not good and safe quality. It’s a death trap over 50mph. Vietnam as a whole, and VinFast are famous for putting lipstick on a pig. This will keep happening and it will get worse and VinFast will be overwhelmed with lawsuits. In VN they’re not held liable for car VinFast accident deaths related to car problems and there is no suing in VN. The cars made in VN don’t have to face the same high level of scrutiny and safety inspections like they will have to in the USA. VN people are very prideful and support everything VN, but they DON’T support VinFast. That says a lot about the company.

  • TrytosaveabitOP SUNSHINE16: appreciate your input here! I myself don’t take much interest in any EV’s! But I said what I did because if it was the cars fault? It would seem that more life’s could be lost because of it? Like I said sad one lost their life! But it would be better to be driver error than the car. But I reserve judgment until investigation completes! Again thanks for sharing your insight on this company! GL undefined

  • SUNSHINE16 TrytosaveabitOP: Unfortunate for the loss of life, but hopefully it’s is the drivers fault and not the car itself. I am in Vietnam now, and ride in the VinFast Taxis often, as well as millions of others. We need the cars safe to save lives, especially in the chaotic and dangerous traffic here. 🤞🙏 It seems like the investigation is more about the fire/battery following the accident. (Maybe they could have survived if not for the battery exploding/catching fire) *Just a thought and nothing to back that up. BTW: VinFast boosted their car sales by opening a taxi company and selling several thousands of cars to their own company. I’m in at $2.60 and holding for $8.

  • TrytosaveabitOP SUNSHINE16: Yes the battery could be the cause!  I’ve never been to VN but I have seen plenty of traffic videos! Looks pretty darn chaotic. Hehehe! With any car company, I know they need to make money to stay in business! But that should never come at the expense of customers safety! I fell if a company deliberately knowingly cuts corners to increase profits by doing something known to be a big safety hazard! They need to be fined the amount of money they made selling the product! Again this is only if it can be proven they knew without a doubt but still produced and sold just for profit sake!
