Amazon plans to invest $8.4 billion in cloud infrastructure in Germany

Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) plans to invest 7.8 billion euros (8.44 billion dollars) in Germany by 2040 to strengthen cloud computing infrastructure, mainly for Europe, according to Reuters.
According to the report, Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced that it will open multiple data centers in Brandenburg, Germany by the end of 2025 so that all customers can use it.
AWS announced in October 2023 that it will launch the AWS European Sovereign Cloud for public sector organizations and customers in highly regulated industries. The sovereign cloud allows customers to keep all metadata they create within the EU. The cloud was to launch in Germany's first AWS region and be available to all European customers.
According to the report, the company pointed out that investment in Germany will support an average of 2,800 full-time jobs per year in German companies.
Last week, Telefonica's (TEF) German division announced plans to move 1 million 5G users to the AWS cloud this month.
Amazon is also investing in Asia to expand its business. Earlier this month, AWS announced plans to invest 12 billion Singapore dollars (approximately 8.88 billion dollars) over the next 4 years to strengthen Singapore's cloud computing infrastructure.
