Investing: a tool to develop patience

Stock pro dude Warren Buffett once said that the stock market is a tool for transferring the monies of the impatience to the patient peeps.

The past year's investment landscape has really brought out this theory.

1. from the heights of the 2021 Nov/Dec s&p rally of 4700+++ it dropped to 3600+(I might be wrong, but somewhere approx there anyways) in mid-2022.

2. those who bought in or who had holdings at the height and thru the bear market of 2022 would have felt the drastic drop deeply. some might have resorted to panic selling as it began to dip, or some might have resorted to selling after some time of waiting, to 'cut loss'.

3. but is it really 'cutting loss'? because if the stock you are holding is a good one(verified after doing your research, due diligence etc), then it's okay to have sharp drops or rises since the market is never still or flat. what matters is you know your price will rebound back as your stock is GOOD.

4. hence, those who patiently waited and believed in their investments (of coz must be backed with historical performance and data, or at least proven by other investors who have used this thru time), will be glad now of having the patience to hold onto their holdings instead of selling when it crashed back in 2022. as the market has recovered. (for now)

5. this makes me remember Warren Buffett's words of "The stock market is a tool for transferring money from the impatient man to the patient." how true and apt it is! as this concept has been proven through this exact same period of the bear market of 2022 to the recovery of 2023.

so my takeaways from everything till this year? as long as I'm assured in my portfolio with facts to prove that the stocks are good, keep them, do not be fazed even when the market crashes or drops badly and just look forward to the day when market recovery starts. because it's not a matter of whether, it's just a matter of when. Patience honing. my key takeaway!
