Elon Musk's brain implant company Neuralink got FDA approval of in-human clinical study

It's significant to Tesla because BCI (brain computer interface) product if successfully turns into marketing will bring in revenue and raised Elon Musk's reputation. It'll benefit Tesla directly or indirectly.
Quote:
Neuralink, the neurotech startup co-founded by Elon Musk, announced Thursday it has received approval from the Food and Drug Administration to conduct its first in-human clinical study.
Neuralink is part of the emerging brain - computer interface, or BCI, industry. A BCI is a system that deciphers brain signals and translates them into commands for external technologies. Neuralink is perhaps the best-known name in the space thanks to the high profile of Musk, who is also the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX and Twitter.
No BCI company has managed to clinch the FDA's final seal of approval. But by receiving the go-ahead for a study with human patients, Neuralink is one step closer to market.

  • bullrider_21 : This technology is not new. In 2018, David M'Zee became the first patient to be successfully treated with a spinal implant, so much so that he was able to have a baby with his wife, something that had not been possible previously.

  • ZnWCOP bullrider_21: Everyone knew that. But if you read the article or my quote, Neurolink is the first company obtained FDA approval in-human clinical study. It is one step closer to marketing the technology.

  • ZnWCOP : Like Tesla's FSD, after it's rolled out last year, many will  claims they're ahead of Tesla. I'm not surprised many will also declared they beat Neuralink.

But as mentioned in the article, this is the first approval by FDA for in-human clinical trial. Those who knows medical device getting FDA in-human clinical trial is not easy. Such approval is a vote of confidence for Neuralink technology in term of safety and reliability.

I reflected trading experiences by writing journals. My comments are for educational purposes not financial advice.
