Tesla's BEV sales Q1 2023 dominate China Market exceed BYD and Volkswagen
By car models, Tesla Model Y is still the Match 2023 best selling EV in China.
Based on Q1 2023 BEV (Battery Electric Vehicles) sales, Tesla dominates China market exceed BYD and Volkswagen.
Then why Tesla's market share in China is only 10%? The reason is other China EV companies such as BYD and NIO include PHEV and BEV in their sales. PHEV (plug-in Electric vehicle) can use battery and gasoline as fuel - not pure EV. Tesla only manufacture BEV.
NIO is not even in the March 2023 Top 10 best selling car in China and it's delivery is falling for 2 consecutive months (March and April). Hence I'm doubtful when NIO's CEO said the company xwill not lose market share to Tesla.

According to the available data, all three OEMs improved their results year-over-year. However, only Tesla set a new quarterly record (422,875), while BYD (264,647) and Volkswagen Group (140,852) noted a result lower than in Q4 2022 (VW Group is actually slightly behind Q3 2022).
