Stockaholic : Just speculation but if they were willing to lower margins they wouldn’t have told AAPL to take a hike. Must be doing fine without them.

Apple was not getting the technology advances in performance and power savings.
Pricing may have played a minor role IMHO

Daniel AcretOP Stockaholic: Huh? Apple dumped Intel because they couldn't progress performance past Skylake. Five generations past Skylake and Intel only has a 10% IPC gain to show for their efforts when controlling for core counts.
Intel also has horrendous performance per watt-- a critical measurement for mobile and handheld devices.
The Apple M1, M1 Max, and M1 Pro are all superior to Intel's offerings. Beyond Apple, AMD has a superior product stack across the board as well. In servers AMD has 30-50% performance advantage.
