Minth Group Limited (HKG:425) shareholders (or potential shareholders) will be happy to see that insider Jong Chin recently bought a whopping HK$7.6m worth of stock, at a price of HK$13.40. There's no denying a buy of that magnitude suggests conviction in a brighter future, although we do note that proportionally it only increased their holding by 0.1%.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Minth Group

Notably, that recent purchase by Jong Chin is the biggest insider purchase of Minth Group shares that we've seen in the last year. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of HK$12.36. It's very possible they regret the purchase, but it's more likely they are bullish about the company. In our view, the price an insider pays for shares is very important. As a general rule, we feel more positive about a stock if insiders have bought shares at above current prices, because that suggests they viewed the stock as good value, even at a higher price.

Insider Ownership

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Minth Group insiders own about HK$5.6b worth of shares (which is 39% of the company). I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
