it is because of the components. WD makes really good hard drives and storage. Ive preferred them for decades now. Storage is always going to grow, and the need for larger hard drives will escalate.
The major roadblock is ISPs such as Comcast. Due to their short-sightedness they bottleneck their own growth. Telecom's whole thing is "charge as much as you can for the slowest you can". Maybe for 30 years this sounds great! You can incrementally increase speed and make buckets.
OOPS! Left in the dust with avg internet speeds, the biggest market struggles to get 1gb/s.
To put it another way, Telecom stopped at steam engines. The rest of the tech world built a ferrarri around it. It is still awesome, but imagine if you could go faster?
Avg internet globally is like 5gb/s now? FFS
