Philip Morris International, Inc. is a holding company, which engages in the manufacture and sale of cigarettes and smoke-free products, including heat-not-burn, e-vapor, and oral nicotine products. The company is working to deliver a smoke-free future and to evolve its portfolio for the long term to include products outside of the tobacco and nicotine sector. It develops scientifically substantiate and commercialize innovative smoke-free products for adults who would otherwise continue to smoke, with the goal of completely ending the sale of cigarettes. This includes pre-clinical systems toxicology, clinical and behavioral research, as well as post-market studies. It operates through the following segments: Europe Region, South and Southeast Asia, Commonwealth of Independent States, Middle East and Africa Region, East Asia, Australia, and PMI Duty Free Region, Americas Region, Swedish Match, and Wellness and Healthcare. The company was founded by Philip Morris in 1847 and is headquartered in Stamford, CT.
