103420040 : 我也想知道
103420040 : 你是怎么看的?在分红前卖出吗
tothemoooonnn : um if u earn enuff to cover dividend then can sell before divdend date but at the end its your choice to make haha
Maniac Fool : Mine 8+ but I am still keeping. Keep for long term
Innot : Will be unlikely to return to 11.55 after you sell! Bank shares are resilient! Unless you wish to buy at higher then you current price and hold for next dividend payout
blur_guy : XD date can sell
VaderMoomoo :
I recall ex date on 8 may. u need to hold shares on 7 may. shares buy on 8 and after 9 may not eligible. that's my understanding
the shares holding on 7 may I'm not sure if its by 2359 on the day or by trading hours of sg timing.
Anyone can advise and validate this?

Extracted from poems
Typically, the record date is two business days preceding the ex-dividend date. The next dividend payment will not be given to shareholders who buy shares after or on the ex-dividend date.
For example, assume Company XYZ declares a $0.50 per share dividend on October 1. The ex-dividend date is set for October 15. An investor who buys shares of company XYZ on October 16 will not receive the dividend, while an investor who buys shares on October 14 will receive the dividend.
Why is an ex-dividend date important to dividend investors? Well, this is because the date determines who is entitled to receive the next dividend payment. Investors who buy the shares before the ex-dividend date are entitled to the next dividend payment.
104501806OP : The record date I see is after ex dividend. What I understand is to lock in dividend , u must buy b4 ex-dividend date but RECORD date is after ex-dividend. poems using preceding seems wrong leh. That's why I m confused if we sell on ex-dividend, dividend won't be given. Seems to me u need to be logically recorded first, can sell only after record date? Can anyone enlightenment me? Tks
104501806OP : blur_guy is correct. Tks.! Understand now ex-dividend is set by exchange for dividend cutoff, record date is by company.. not impt in terms of buy, sell.
Phoon1981 : Eh, after exdate, price drop corrected by minus out the dividend to share price. Do you know about that before come to do dividend play?
