Hedge fund Qube says large HSBC short positions reported to regulators were submitted in error
Hedge fund Qube Research & Technologies said it has not shorted HSBC Holdings' stocks by a large amount. The quantitative and systematic investment management company claims that the short positions disclosed in the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) public registration records are due to erroneous submissions. “The FCA filing was erroneously submitted due to technical issues and is currently being corrected,” Stuart Brown, chief operating officer of Qube Group, said in an email announcement. “QRT has no net short positions against HSBC.” An HSBC spokesperson declined to comment.
