AU Evening Wrap | ASX Surpasses 8200 as Fed Cuts Rates; BHP Rallies on Morgan Stanley Buy Rating

The Nikkei Average continued to gain significantly, ending the trading day with a recovery of 37,155.33 yen, up 775.16 yen (+2.1%), the first time it has returned to 37,000 yen in about two weeks (with a volume estimate of 1.72 billion 20 million shares). The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) announced a significant 0.5% interest rate cut. Following the FOMC decision, the yen depreciated temporarily to around 143 yen to the dollar, leading to buying in a wide range of stocks, particularly in export-related companies. The Nikkei Average recovered the milestone of 37,000 yen at the beginning of the session and closed high in the morning session.
