Under the opportunity of the growing demand for new ships in the global cruise industry, Genting Hong Kong merged its shipyards in Wisma, Rostock and Stralsund in Germany in 2016 to form the German MV Shipbuilding Group, together with the Lloyd Werft shipyard, which was acquired in 2015 to build large yachts and other new ships, together with its three cruise brands to achieve global expansion. The combined MV Shipbuilding Group of Germany has 1800 experienced employees and professionals and is able to build large cruise ships with advanced facilities. Genting Hong Kong affiliate Dafley International Group (Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc.) opened its first onshore project, Genting World in Manila, in the Philippines in August 2009. Genting World Manila is the first one-stop integrated resort in the Philippines that brings together world-class leisure and entertainment activities, bringing together seven hotels, high-end shopping malls, four high-end cinemas and a multi-purpose opera house.
