Chinese Stocks End Mixed as Airlines, Tourism Shares Weaken -- Market Talk

0726 GMT - Chinese stocks finished mixed as concerns about the Omicron variant of the coronavirus weighed on travel and tourism-related sectors, offsetting gains among liquor makers. Air China, China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Airlines lost 2.5%-3.7%, while China Tourism Group Duty Free fell 3.8%. Shipping companies advanced amid the prospect of continued disruptions to supply chains and elevated freight rates. Cosco Shipping Holdings surged 10%. Among liquor makers, index heavyweight Kweichow Moutai added 2.3% and Wuliangye Yibin was 0.8% higher. The Shanghai Composite Index was flat at 3562.70, the Shenzhen Composite Index added 0.4% and the ChiNext Price Index was 1.0% higher. (clarence.leong@wsj.com)
