Grab Says Demand Returning in Certain Countries After Vietnam Lockdown -- Market Talk

Dow Jones Newswires ·  Nov 11, 2021 09:00

0854 ET - Lockdowns in Vietnam hurt Grab's 3Q results, the company says, with revenue falling 9%. "Mobility and food delivery services were suspended in Vietnam for most of Q3, and six of our core countries in which we operate experienced tighter movement controls," finance chief Peter Oey says. But mobility demand is returning in certain countries heading into 4Q, Oey says. He says the company -- which offers ride-hailing, food-delivery and digital-wallet products -- is adding on investments that will help it capture a greater share of opportunities and open up addressable markets, such as groceries. The company is set to go public through a combination with SPAC Altimeter Growth Corp., a deal that is expected to close in 4Q. (dave.sebastian@wsj.com; @depsebastian)
