Danish medical-device and services provider Coloplast AS said Monday that it has agreed to acquire Atos Medical from French private-equity firm PAI Partners in a deal worth 2.16 billion euros ($2.5 billion).
Atos Medical supplies specialist medical equipment for laryngectomy--the removal of the larynx--and related care for people living with a neck stoma, an opening in the neck that allows patients to breathe.
"Following the expected acquisition, Coloplast gains access to a new chronic care segment to be run as a separate strategic business unit operating on shared Coloplast infrastructure," Coloplast said.
Headquartered in Sweden, Atos Medical serves customers in around 90 countries and has around 1,150 employees and a direct presence in 30 countries. For the year ended Dec. 31, Atos Medical delivered pro forma revenue of 2.2 billion Swedish kronor ($256.4 million) and adjusted pro forma earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization of SEK800 million.
