New Zealand Shares Rise 0.2% as Utilities Advance -- Market Talk

2207 GMT - New Zealand's NZX-50 adds 0.2% to 13098 in early trading as interest-rate sensitive power utilities mostly gain following a pull back in local rates from recent sharp gains. Utility Trustpower also reaffirmed its full-year operating earnings guidance. Meridian Energy rises 1.4%, Contact Energy gains 0.8% and Trustpower advances 1.5%. Property stocks and retirement-village operators are mixed. Auckland International Airport rises 0.5% after a takeover of Sydney Airport by an infrastructure consortium is sealed following an increase to the initial offer. NZD/USD is little changed at 0.7113.
