Legendary hedge fund manager Michael Burry, the archetypal hero of the movie "Big short", no longer holds Tesla, Inc. 's short position and says that his holding of Tesla, Inc. put options is just a deal.
The APP of Zhitong Finance has learned that there is market news that Michael Burry, the legendary hedge fund manager who is the archetypal hero of the movie "Big short", no longer holds Tesla, Inc. 's short position and said that his holding of Tesla, Inc. put options was just a deal.
Scion, the asset manager owned by Michael Burry, disclosed in a regulatory filing to SEC in May that it held 800100 put options with Tesla, Inc. as of the end of March this year. However, details such as the exercise price, expiration date and royalty of the option have not been disclosed. As a result, it is difficult for the market to determine whether the investment is purely short-selling or whether there are other motivations. Based on Tesla's closing price of $667.93 at the end of March, the shares have a market capitalization of $534.4 million.
In response to media enquiries by email on Friday, Michael Burry said the put options were a transaction and that the public misunderstood the disclosure. He is not prepared to short hundreds of millions of dollars of securities by holding put options. However, Burry has long had questions about Tesla, Inc. 's high valuation, saying on Twitter that Tesla, Inc. 's reliance on regulatory points to generate profits was an obstacle to the company's long-term prospects, though the tweet was later deleted.
