By Anthony O. Goriainoff

Motorpoint Group PLC said on Thursday that pretax profit for the first half of fiscal 2022 rose 30%, and that revenue for the period was up 57% following continued strong consumer demand for used vehicles.

The U.K. vehicle retailer said that for the half year ended Sept. 30, pretax profit was more than 13 million pounds ($17.7 million) despite its planned strategic costs investment in the period.

The company said that online retail sales rose 53% in the period and that this reflected its continued progress in its transformation into a digitally-led business.

"We are firmly fixed on significant growth targets and the investments made to date in technology and marketing will continue to grow to realize our goal of doubling revenues in the medium term," Chief Executive Mark Carpenter said.
