A week after fuel shortages in Britain caused chaos across the country, many car owners are still struggling to fill up their cars.
More than 1/4 of petrol stations in the UK have no fuel, while another 20 per cent have only one grade of fuel, according to the British petrol Retail Association. Many gas stations around London are still closed because there is no fuel, while there are long queues at gas stations that are still open.
"it will take several weeks to get back to normal," Gordon Balmer, executive director of the British gasoline Retail Association, said in an interview with Bloomberg Radio, meaning there were no queues and no shortage at gas stations.
The British government said emergency measures-deploying convoys of reserve tanks and putting troops on standby to drive trucks for transport-had eased the crisis. But there is little sign that car owners have taken the government's advice to slow down their purchases, and the transportation of fuel can hardly keep up with the strong demand.
